NST
The aim of the Nutrition Support Team of Shinshu University Hospital (SUH-NST) is to raise the quality of the nutrition support service, and resulting in improvement in nutrition and the quality of life of patients.

SUH-NST consists of the Central NST and 20 Local NSTs.

There are several major activities in the Central NST.

They are to offer consultations in case of severe malnutrition, to discuss problems, word rounds, assessment of nutritional status, and advice for clients from Local NSTs.

There are three major activities in the Local NSTs.

They are regular screening of malnourished patients who show low albuminemia (under 3g/dl), referring problem cases to the Central NST, and giving suggestions to the chief doctor according to the advice of the Central NST.

In general, the Central NST receives 1 to 3 clients every week, and staff of the Central NST visit wards every week.
